Amed

Amed is a village on the east coast (north-east side) in Abang District, Karangasem Regency, Bali, Indonesia. In the wake of heavy tourism development, actors in the tourism industry use the village's name to designate a 14-km stretch of coast that includes several other villages, namely from west to east: Amed, Jemeluk, Bunutan, Lipah, Lehan, Selang, Banyuning, Aas and Kusambi. A more correct geographical name would be the north coast of the Seraya peninsula, or North Seraya.

Many beaches in the area, including Amed Beach, have black volcanic sand as they are close to Mount Agung, Bali's largest volcano

Amed Dive Sites

- Ghost Bay: this site is excellent for macro in the sand, very little rocks or coral.

- Gili Selang Bay: the marine life here is very different from the one in the areas of Amed and Tulamben but similar to the one you will encounter around Nusa Penida.

- Lipah Bay: this site is very rich and you will be able to see many reef fish, along with juveniles of all kinds.

- Jemeluk Bay: composed of a vertical wall of 10 to 40 meters in depth and of an artificial reef called Pyramids because of the shape of the reef.

- Bunutan: a giant field of Garden Eels and incredible Coral Garden.

- Pyramids: more than 20 years ago, locals dropped neutral Ph concretes pyramids and tires to create a new reef. Worth to be seen!

- Deep Blue: enjoy the corals in the bay, then follow the slope and drift with the shore current, it will do all the job.

- Japanese Wreck: this 20 meters shipwreck is covered of colourful corals and is a perfect place to see tiny critters.
